ABOUT R-ACT'S
ANNUAL LIVE HOLIDAY CHARITY
RADIO SHOW
Since 1999, R-ACT Theatre Productions' annual holiday radio show has been a cherished tradition in the Beaver County arts community. Performed the first full weekend of December, this one-weekend-only event serves as R-ACT's final production of each season. R-ACT radio shows transport audiences back to the Golden Age of radio with live performances of classic scripts from the 1930s–1950s or original works inspired by the era.
Staying true to the style of vintage radio, actors perform live at microphones with scripts in hand, while practical Foley sound effects are created in real time to bring the stories to life. Without the visual elements of costumes or sets, the focus is entirely on the art of voice acting and sound, offering a unique and engaging experience for audiences who watch the magic of radio unfold on stage. Adding to the nostalgic charm, the shows feature live commercials written for sponsors or fictional commercials inspired by authentic advertisements from radio’s golden years.
Continuing a longstanding tradition, our holiday radio production is also a charity event. Each year all proceeds are donated to a cause chosen by the show’s director. Past beneficiaries include the Beaver County Humane Society, the American Cancer Society, the Mental Health Association, Beaver County Relay for Life Team, Beaver County Library Systems, the Beaver County Cancer and Heart Association, and Toys for Tots of Beaver County.
This holiday season make our tradition, your tradition. Join us for our holiday radio show and benefit a worthy cause while helping R-ACT keep the arts alive in Beaver County.
