R-ACT Theatre Productions
YOUTH PROGRAMMING

YOUTH PROGRAMMING INTEREST FORM:
https://forms.gle/PpYPENXnGxLs1vBHA

Since 1992, R-ACT Theatre Productions has been primarily an adult community theater company. Our organization is run by adults, our productions are primarily geared toward adults, and our casts and crews are generally made up of adults. Providing adults with opportunities to participate in quality community theater will remain R-ACT’s priority.

From time to time, young people may have opportunities to participate in R-ACT productions. For example, our holiday radio shows have occasionally included roles for young performers. At this time, however, R-ACT does not regularly produce plays specifically for children/teens, nor do we currently have an ongoing youth theater program.

At the same time, we believe there should be opportunities for the next generation of theater artists to discover, explore, and enjoy theater. We’re interested in finding ways to provide free or low-cost youth programming when there is enough community interest to make it practical and sustainable.

WHAT WE OFFER NOW:
TEEN THEATER CAMP

Our youth programming is currently limited, but we are looking to grow it thoughtfully.

Our primary youth opportunity is our Teen Theater Camp, a free summer program that gives teens an opportunity to explore theater, develop performance skills, and work together to create a theatrical production. We hope to offer the camp again in 2027.

WHAT COULD WE OFFER IN THE FUTURE?

We'd love to learn what kinds of theater opportunities young people in our community are interested in. Depending on interest, future possibilities could include:

• Teen Theater Camps (weekday daytime or evening programs)
• Weekend Theater Workshops for children or teens
• Youth participation in R-ACT productions alongside adult actors
• Youth-only productions with casts (and crews?) made up entirely of young people
• Children's theater designed specifically for younger audiences
• Live radio theater for kids and teens
• Puppet shows
• Improv shows
• Other workshops, classes, or theater experiences

These are possibilities for the future if the community expresses interest. Your responses will help us understand which opportunities would be most meaningful to young people and families in our community.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE MORE
FAMILY-FRIENDLY PLAYS FOR CHILDREN?

Would you like R-ACT to produce plays or other live theater specifically intended for children to attend as audience members? This may include productions performed by adults, young people, or a combination of both.

R-ACT currently does not regularly produce theater specifically for young audiences, but we'd like to know if there is an interest in seeing more of it in our community.

If your family would be interested in attending family-friendly or youth-focused theater, please let us know through our Youth Programming Interest Form (scroll for the link).

YOUTH VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Most of R-ACT's productions and programming are designed for adults, but there are still many ways for young people to get involved behind the scenes.

R-ACT welcomes youth volunteers age 12 and up, with a parent's permission, throughout our regular season. Teens can gain hands-on theater experience while helping with:

• Stage crew and backstage work
• Technical theater
• Front of House
• Load-in and set strike
• Audition assistance
• Rehearsal assistance
• Photography and videography
• And more

We also offer opportunities for teens who are interested in pursuing theater as a career to shadow and learn from experienced volunteers, and we can provide volunteer hours for Senior Projects.

If you or your teen is interested in volunteering with R-ACT, please visit our Volunteer page for more info and fifill out the Volunteer Interest Page here
